Read It Roll It Hole It: Ep 21

Let’s start off with the football this week.  On the world cup stage I  was impressed by the Colombians the other night but still a lot of work to do to qualify as they will probably need to beat Senegal to go through. Uruguay are good things to go through against Portugal in the round of 16.

Closer to home Dundalk @ 4/5 take on Cork @ 7/2 in the LOI on Friday night. This could be a cracker and I think the town will come out on top and go on to win the league.

With the provincial championships both on the line this week in the hurling, two must see matches to view on Sunday. In Leinster, Galway @ 2/5 take on Kilkenny @ 11/4, the men from the west will over power Kilkenny. In Munster things should be a lot closer with Cork @ Evens taking on Clare @ 11/10. Only one result for me in this the rebels to come out on top.

The European tour heads to Paris national this week home to the Ryder cup in September. First of all, good to see Justin Thomas coming over to play and the bookies make him 12/1 favourite. The so called big names of Europe are missing and I don’t think captain Bjorn is happy with that but last years winner Tommy Fleetwood is here to try defend his title along with Rahm, Noren and Sergio. Our pick this week is Tyrell Hatton @ 33/1, the fiery Englishman attacking style might pay off this week. The PGA tour hosts the Quicken Loans this week where Rickie Fowler heads the betting @ 7/1 followed by Tiger @ 14/1. Going to keep it simple South Korean Byeong-Hun An @ 40/1 is ready for the winner’s enclosure and I’m confident this is his week..

Again, keep an eye on the social media platforms for on running advice as I gave a lay of Paul Casey last week @ 1.54 when four shots clear going into the final day. Football and Horses will also appear up on these..

Bets:

Tyrell Hatton @ 33/1 ew (Open De France)

Byeong-Hun An @ 40/1 ew (Quicken Loans)

P/L: Sports + €59. Horses + €91. Both to a €10 level stake.

With the World Cup up and running and starting it’s second round of games, for me Spain look the team to beat. How they did not beat Portugal the other night I will never know and don’t even think of mentioning his name!! Will be trying to keep the powder dry until the knockout stages but that might be hard.

Just a quick mention on the rugby, Ireland are 4/7 to beat Australia in the deciding test Saturday morning, for the big punters this looks a very fair price.

The senior hurling takes a week off.  Fair play to Clare last weekend on beating Limerick but I think that was their all Ireland!!! Limerick will be still in the melting pot come the semi finals. A cracking under 21 tie takes place in Semple stadium Thursday evening when Tipp welcome Limerick. Good to see Peter Casey back on the line up as he will be needed by the seniors down the line. Limerick are 11/10 with Boylesports a price that should be taken.

Moving onto the golf have to mention our pick last week for the US open Brooks Koepka doing the business @ 25/1. Hope you were on. The European tour heads to Germany this week for the BMW Championship where Tommy Fleetwood is 15/2 favourite. I would be all over him on a normal week but after his heroics last week, the petrol gauge might be a bit low. Andy Sullivan @ 16/1 is our main pick. The Englishman a multiple winner on the tour showing good signs again. Chris Paisley @ 66/1 and Stephan Jaeger @ 125/1 are two others to keep on the shortlist.

The Travellers take place in the US this week, again another stellar field lines up with JT(Justin Thomas) heading the betting @ 12/1 followed by Brooks, Rory and Jordan. A quick word on Jordan Speith he loves this place but if he has another bad week serious questions will be asked. Daniel Berger @ 28/1 is our selection. I found himself teeing off last in the final group last week which was a shock for both him and Finau but back in a course he likes will go close.

Please keep an eye on the social media platforms for horse and World cup tips.

Bets:

Andy Sullivan @ 16/1 ew (BMW Championship)

Daniel Berger @28/1 ew (Travellers Championship)

P/L Sports + €79. Horses + €91 both to €10 level stake.

The World Cup starts tomorrow with the hosts Russia taking on Saudi Arabia not a classic to open up but you never know. On the outright market have decided to take on the front two in the betting Brazil and Germany so that leaves only three teams that can win it, Spain, France and Belguim. Going to wait further into the competition before I nail my colours to the mast but Antoine Griezmann @ 12/1 has to be backed for top scorer.

The hurling championship has been epic so far and in Munster, heading into the last series of games lots to be decided. You would think Cork will put Waterford to the sword and that leaves Clare and Limerick to fight it out for the last place in the Munster final. I think both teams will want to win on Sunday but losing a Munster final could be bad in the long run. Saying that Limerick @ 10/11 look the bet against the banner.

The US Open takes place this week in Shinnecock Hills, an iconic course on the US Open rota. Last year’s winner Brooks Koepka @ 25/1 is our main pick for a repeat. DJ @ 8/1 comes in with a W in his form line after winning the St Jude Classic last week and might trade higher in running as he is out late on Thursday afternoon. Other guys to keep on your side this week include Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood.

Will be posting advise on the twitter and Facebook page over the weekend so keep a look out for that. Also tips on the individual WC matches will be posted on these platforms and you might even get a horse after our good winner last week.

Bets:

Antoine Griezmann @ 12/1 (Top Goalscorer World Cup)

Brooks Koepka @ 25/1 ew (US Open)

P/L: Sports – €67.  Horses +€91. to a €10 level stake.
